tiling round velux window. Tiles kick up

Hi

I am new to this forum stuff so hoping i do it right and someone can help.

We installed a couple of velux, and have tried to tile round it but the tiles kick up an awful lot around the window, esp at the bottom. Is this right? Velux advised us to use the edj flashing kit but all the pics i can find online with this flashing kit are profiled tiles (wiggly ones ‍

).

Plus the flashing at the bottom doesnt seem to sit flush on the tiles, am i supposed to hammer this down? Again, all info i can find is about moulding this flashing around profiled tiles.

Any help would be appreciated

It's the correct flashing.
Tile course running under may be a little close to the window.
The small cuts are not ideal, looks like the tile imaybe a Cassius, tile and halves are available.
No need for cocking tiles

Thanks so much for your reply. You know your tiles, they are indeed the cassius We have half tiles but the distance from the end of the roof to the tile stop on the fashing didnt work out for us to get away with a half and had to make cuts. How would you have done it? I suppose we could have made the cuts at the end of the roof where we cap it?sorry i dont know all the terminology

I just dont understand how we can avoid cuts in the middle section? The end section we can hide the cuts under the plastic end cap things but how do we avoid the cuts on the left hand side of the middle section? We have half and full tiles but they are very large format tiles. We also have another issue with our side abutment. Currently used two pieces of lead but i just hate it, surely theres something better we can use. See pics

The bottom apron needs pre bending as per velux instructions! The first tile that sits on the flashing either side of the window needs special attention, you will need to grind the back of the tile to help it sit better. Data is trying to tell you that you can buy tile an half's for those situations where a full tile won't work.

'Tis what we do. That fist kicking tile is what is causing the bother for the subsequent tile courses above.

Thanks for your reply catlad, really appreciate it. Ok so we didnt prebend the apron, i guess we should remove it and do that bit. Should we then mallet down the bottom of the apron or should prebending it be enough?

Regarding the cuts, what happens if a half tile is still too big? I guess we can avoid the cuts on the righthand window by working left to right and have the cuts hidden at the end with the caps but not sure how we can avoid the cuts on the lefthand window? I wish we had local roofers available but have rang loads and they are all too busy

Thanks noseall, ok we will try and trim the underside. Its a shame they dont do individual soakers or something for these tiles as they do for the plain tile flashing, it seems to leave a much neater finish.

Also regarding the cuts, im still struggling to find away to avoid these for the left hand window. They really look ****e as cuts cus they are clay tiles so the orange shows through
