Hello everyone, I am thinking of installing this in my new bath and wanted to see if anyone had any experience of this unit and I also have a few questions in general.

1. The unit swivels at the base for easy connection to the waste pipe. Do you think it may leak after a few years where it swivels?
2. Geberit says it empties the bath at a rate of 1 l/s I have no idea how fast this is in real terms but the image seems to suggest that the u bend is narrow and may be a bottle neck when emptying. Is 1 l/s fast or slow
3. Geberit mentions a push fit connector must be used to connect to existing waste pipe. No solvent weld. This worries me as I live in a flat and have already had a leak once before into downstairs bathroom. Do you think the push fit will suffice? we have speed humps outside and the entire building shakes when HGV pass by.
4. Geberit offer I year warranty which seems low compared to some other manufacturers. Do you think the quality is up to the job?

I hope the above makes sense and I am grateful for any help/advice/suggestions you may offer.
Many thanks
André

Hello Navy,

It seems expensive to me for a trap and combi waste, however, In answer to your questions:

  1. Where it swivels shouldn’t leak after a few years, thousands of baths are installed with McAlpine traps which swivel and don’t leak.
  2. pushfit should suffice, the general reason they fail is because they haven’t been supported with adequate if any clips, or they are installed with a back fall.
Leaks occur because of poor installation practices. Are you aware this is an all in one unit? It also doesn’t look like it would be easy to clear any blockages.

Many thanks for replying Undertrained.
The swivel scared me because there is no instructions to ' adjust to your requirements and tighten' which seemed to leave the back door open to long term failure. Yes, I was concerned about blockages. My current bath already has installed what I believe to be a basic trap and twist open and close overflow when I bought the flat years ago and it blocks regularly, needs cleaning every 8 weeks or so but works effectively.
I totally agree with it being difficult to clear any blockages and the u bend looks like a nightmare to clean out. I plan to have a tiled bath panel so access will be limited dependant on the size of tiles I choose but I don't plan on replacing this unit in the short term. My current arrangement has worked fine for 17 years. I just fancied something different.
When you say " all in one unit " I assume you mean if the overflow fails then I need to change the bath trap too or vice versa? Yes I know but I'm kinda hoping this kit will last a few years before any problems arise.
Geberit are supposed to be a reliable name in the plumbing world but this product has me very tempted but without someone's first hand experience of installation and use then I am VERY cautious.
Thanks you 'undertrained' for taking the time to reply.
