Not really building..... well I am building my trailer! What is a decent glue to stick some rubber checkerplate matting to my painted plywood trailer base?

My initial thoughts was some evostick contact adhesive, but I want a minutes play to get in the right position. A flexible 6x4 sheet of rubber is gonna be a bugger to align straight off and that evostick sticks hard instantly. A world of pain.

Cornflakes and milk are quite stong, and you will get some play along with a healthy breakfast.

The key is to roll out and cut the mat to suit, then fix (staple?) one edge and then roll it up, glue the base and then just roll the thing back out. Put some weight on it. No need to coat both surfaces.

I’ve always said weetabix, but pilsbury will probably stick to his tried and tested Cheerios.

Use something like hardboard or strips of wood to keep apart areas of the mat whilst you work your way. The worst thing is if a bit unexpectedly flips back and sticks.

You can work from one side, or lay the rubber in place, clamp down one half, roll back the other, glue and stick.

Watch a video of doing an epdm roof as its the same thing

I'm sure someone suggested something similar earlier in the thread.....
I thought pilsbury would be confused as to how he could clamp one half, whilst rolling up the other half. :p

I knew what you meant though.

Thank you all for your pearls of wisdom. Rubber mat went down a treat. As per suggestion, laid it in position, folded half back, glued, then repeated for the other half. Simples.

I have now realised I have another issue. My trusty trailer, all rusty, scuffed and boarded with flaking, rotting OSB got me through my entire build. Bricks, rubble and any horrid sh1t you could imagine was handled with ease. It is now immaculate. Stripped, painted, new ply boards painted up, rubber checker plate matting, working lights.... a real beauty. But the only thing I’m willing to transport is pillows and blankets (not the scratchy ones). Can’t bear to put a mark on it.
