Nicotine Stained Grout - Whiten Or Renew?

My daughter bought a small flat that was owned by a heavy smoker. The bathroom and kitchen tiles are only a few years old, and both the tiles and grout are in excellent condition. Only problem is the grout has been discoloured by the nicotine/smoke in the house.

Is there a way to whiten the grout, or will it need to be removed and redone? If the grout needs removing, what's the best method? I have an oscillating multitool if that helps.

Many thanks for any advice.

Have you tried sugar soap?
I once tarted up a shower cubicle with a hand tool to remove ground and it was hard. I think dremel did a grout remover. A multitool might work. You can get hooked blades but I haven't seen them in a while

You can also get grout whitener- like you did for white pumps back in the day
It works, but not brilliant

Thanks to both of you for your replies. Not tried the sugar soap yet, only just bought a box today from Toolstation. I assumed the grout being slightly recessed in a groove and not being a smooth surface would be very difficult to clean with sugar soap. I suppose I could try scrubbing with a nail brush.

More than likely I will try the whitener as it seems less work. If that fails, get a grout remover for my multitool.
