what's the total price including fitting?

£150 but he says the part costs £150...there's a long story behind this which is useless to go into but put it this way. he said the part costs £150.

Im guessing there a problem which is partly his responsibility so he said if you pay for the lock I will fit it for free.......

Typically multipoint locks are say £35 to £75 +vat and maybe £20 delivery

There are loads of variants with multipoint locks so not that easy for a diy person to order a replacement

is it a front door lock -in which case is it a split spindle type?

Why don't you just buy the mechanism then and get someone to fit it?

Why don't you ask him about it....

Also, contact the sellers, they may be able to help....

i have no clue where to get it

I am confusion.

You didn't like the quote, you went on ebay and saw some cheaper, so thought the bloke was ripping you off, and now you say that you don't know where to get them from?

Perhaps, just perhaps, the quote was correct and the ones you saw on ebay were some random crap that are totally different? Perhaps.

Exactly..

Maco have changed some of their range, if your door isnt new the lock might be an old model.

If you have a part number, ring Maco and ask them to confirm which lock is correct and for a stockist.

Dont try and source yourself, there are just too many options -I used to buy GU locks and even with the correct part number I got sent the wrong version (it was packed with incorrect labelling in Germany).

You make me laugh. So his been out once to look at it and then quoted to supply and fit a new lock which he would the guarantee but you don't want to pay it.
So buy one yourself and if it's wrong change it again or get a second quote but £150 sounds okay to me. Do it yourself and it could end up costing more.
