Three bathroom spot lamps underpowered

Hi

Just had a shower and realised three of six spot lamps were only on half power. They were all on one side of the ceiling. Is there a quick fix for this?

I wonder what voltage they are, when they were installed, and when they started doing that.

Hi

Apologies for delay. Was going to check voltage, but spotlights are all now ok. They were installed when our bathroom was fitted years ago. Have replaced some over the years, when they’ve blown. The issue presented itself yesterday.

If they are fed from a 12v transformer in the loft then your problem may (have been) heat.
Many of these electronic devices limit themselves if they get too hot.

Thank you. Yep, we do have 12 v transformer, so that makes sense.

if they are 12v halogens, you might be able to replace them with LEDs, which run much cooler and use much less power. Reduced loading on the power supply might reduce its tendency to overheat.

In the long run, I don't believe there is much point in halogens now that LEDs are so good. You can have small mains-voltage lamps without the added cost and complexity of a ELV power supply.

Halogen lamps have been withdrawn from general sale as part of the European save the world strategy.
A change to LED May be the option.

But as they go on to say:

"The halogen bulbs will be replaced by LED-lightbulbs, which due to innovation have become safer, more affordable, and more energy efficient. The new measures will not apply to products that are already on the shelves in stores, but only to placing new products on the market"

and the newer LEDs are so much better that only a few diehards would want to use halogens.

That’s why I said “general”.
By floodlights they do not mean downlights. Although they should have banned the 500watt jobbies a long time ago.
