Tonsills

General modern advice (from recent general press) is to avoid "routine" tonsil removal so one assumes that your GP thinks you need it.

Mine are still there but loads of kids my age had them out and all most remembered was ice cream. Life was simpler. Probably lay off the crisps for a while?

Im having my Tonsills aged 52. What do you know.?

Couple of summers ago, I got a sore throat. Over 48 hours it got worse and worse, until I couldn't talk or swallow (no Nosey, not that type of swallowing). I had to go to A&E where they diagnosed a Quinsy (never heard of it - thought it was an old US TV show about a coroner). Apparently, it's an abcess on the tonsils and can be serious. Was admitted to the ENT dept. of the hospital to have it lanced under local anaesthetic. Apparently, it usually affects young people so don't know why I had it. I'm 52. If it reoccurs, will have to have my tonsils out.

So, tonsils can be a problem when we're almost past the first flush of youth.
