can you please advise on the screwdriver size required for the faceplate of light switches, sockets, FCU’s etc.?

I assume they are all the same size.

I’d like to buy the correct sized VDE screwdriver. I am currently using 4x100.

5.5mm x 1.0mm works for me. 4mm will have a reduced thickness and it is this that causes the blade tip to move side to side in the slot as much as (or more) than the tip length.

Use a good quality brand like Wera.

It seems to vary with makes and acccesories, I use irazola and they tend to twist a bit and you can sort of feel the torque, though i have to admit accessory screws all seem iffy nowadays, i suppose cut backs on brass.
Mk pride there self that nearly all there gear uses 1 screwdriver, though I dont recall the size they say.
Traditionally to me its always been 4mm but as others say I might give 4.5 a try as they say the blades wider.
I want the Hager Blue set but its rare so if you find them post back

Looking at so called "electricians "sets they appear to come with 3.5 and 4.5 now

IMO there is not a 1 size fits all screwdriver for electrical screws.
I prefer to use the right tool for the job, not just one that part fits. - using the wrong size it can slip, break or damage the screw head.

For instance, using a smaller flat-bladed driver on those screws that are cross headed means that you have an opportunity for the blade to slip along the slot and the end is in the centre which can then cause it to break the corner off (or something like that as its happened to 2 drivers in the past few years on these screws)

Which is why I use cross head drivers more when presented with these screws, a Phillips P2 seems to suit more than a pozi2,
If there are specific screws you want to work on then measure the head to identify the size you need.

So get yourself a range of screwdrivers in multiple sizes so that you can use the right one for the screw head.

I have that set, one of those was the first to break for me.
Then I got a few sets from Aldi (currently selling at £4.99 a set) and they work just as well.
