WTF?

A message was saying "try later" yet it was still unknowingly posting after a while, on the times i did try later it then ended up double posted.
I noticed on a few threads where others had also posted 3 or 4 times, the same reply, so assumed it was not just me,
Ignoring the message and just waiting was the only way i could post

It appears fine now

I see there are several duplicate postings recently so I presume people are clicking 'Post Reply' and thinking it isn't working and clicking again.

Yeah, I've not had any trouble posting stuff but am getting duplicates. When clicking "POST REPLY", you get an error message, and your post does not appear. However, if you refresh the page, you find it has been posted anyway.

Double posts is something that seems to happen sporadically. The last couple of days seems to be one of those sporads

As above, server error message comes up, but post has been made.

Would be useful to be able to delete post completely, not much difference to editing the post to a full stop.

Blup

Indeed. As has been said, refreshing the page indicates that the message actually has been posted.

Indeed. Some forum software (and/or configurations of forum software) do allow that. I've seen it argued that it is undesirable to allow members to literally delete (irrevocably destroy) a message - since a member may then 'destroy evidence' - so some who run forums favour making a message 'invisible', rather than literally deleting it. However, as you say, essentially the same can be achieved by 'editing to a full stop, so I don't think that is a valid concern.

Kind Regards, John
