Olive puller and pipe slice

Hello

I bought a Silverline olive puller from Toolstation. Previously I've hammered the olive and nut off, or used a hacksaw.

To use the pipe slice on 22mm there is an insert that goes into the pipe, which the puller bears against. I can't get this into the pipes because the slight rounding created by a pipe slice means the insert doesn't fit.

Is this a common problem?

Depends on what you need to use ... just get one of these and ream it out if you need to.

I use one of these, never had any problems with it, sometimes wonder why I faffed around with junior hacksaws and screwdrivers.

I use monument olive cutters tbh...awesome on 22 and 28mm as it’s never crushed

I returned it. By the time I've arsed about finding the reamer I may as well just use a 15mm/22mm spanner and hammer the olive off.

fwiw, i've always used a mini hack saw - only needs a groove in the olive, and a screwdriver flat tip will prise the olive off

I assume the OP is talking about one of these pullers? They use the fitting's nut that's captive behind the olive to pull it all off, like a corkscrew. Useful when you can't get to the olive because the nut won't clear it because of a fitting etc.

Guess he doesn't mean a pipe slice rather still talking about the olive puller & it needs an insert for a 22mm pipe to make sure it pulls straight & doesn't deform the end of the pipe when being used.

Could have done with one of those today!
Couldn't get to the olive as there was a tee right behind the nut... I had to grind the nut off, then the olive

I have had one of these for 20 years. It works fine.
