Energy Efficient Wall Mounted Electric Radiators

That doesn't surprise me in relation to a 'modern' toaster, but I doubt that is the case with my ancient one. I say that because it does seem to work by sensing temperature, rather than by timing - since if I put a piece of frozen bread in it, it pops up when toasted to roughly the same extent as would be the case with non-frozen toast (with the same 'setting').

I don't know, I have never bothered to pull one apart, but I would expect the bi-metal ones to have a separate heater element/ resistor, rather than the toasting element - which is why they are inconsistent between the first session and subsequent ones, the bi-metal will still be warm. Electronic, means they will heat for a reasonably consistent time.

That all makes sense, but it is essentially a timing system, so (like the electronic ones) it would always heat for roughly consistent time - which wouldn't really explain why mine seems to be able to toast frozen bread to roughly the same extent as non-frozen bread (at the same setting). When I have some spare moments, I'll compare the time it takes with froaen and non-frozen bread.

Kind Regards, John

They exist. First made in 1948.

Thanks, that's very clever for its age.

Why can't they do similar today with all the electronics available now?

[EDIT] I have just watched it all the way through, it it INCREDIBLY clever. Now looking on ebay for one o_O

Way too expensive - they are a collectors item :(

Very cleaver, but for me would not work, two slices of bread in one hole so only one side toasted, the place in grill untoasted up with cheese and egg mixture with a little mustard, can you tell I come from Wales? Love welsh rarebit. Also would guess you would need a 120 volt transformer to work them.
