Hi, the old eyes are not what they once were so if anyone has used and can recommend a good work light for skimming and painting that would be great.
Ive tried several led floods but the light seems too white with lots of glare so looking for better dedicated unit
Thanks

I’ve had fluorescents (strip and D shape), LEDs and halogens over the years. For most stuff you can get really good LED lamps now, but for (skimming) plastering in an otherwise unlit area, I still go back to the nasty red hot double halogen 500w tripod jobs. Anything else just doesn’t seem to quite manage it. Then again, I’ve not looked at LEDs for a few years and I bet they’ve come on a lot.
I also use 2 of these, and wouldn’t be without them, nearly as good as the halogens:

Halogens have too much of a glare for my liking I used to use the tall defender lights with daylight tubes until I came across a bloke using one of these so I got one it does the same job but is compact and leaves the simular size defender lights in the shade "literally" it more or less lights the whole room up the tubes are dear though nearly every one I worked with commented how good the light was I remember replacing the tube with a cheap one and it was crap so I ended up paying nearly £20 for a proper replacement but it's worth it https://www.schneider-electric.com/...man---goliath-250-work-lamp---55-w---ch-plug/

short story about a light:
i'm learning with joe an old chargehand - he keeps ranting about the "rrr -pop pop pop rrr" compressor noise feeding some nail guns.
finally he gives the compressor a running kick, only its not the compressor its the spreads light, the only light in the space.
c/h joe disappears.
spreads rush in "whats happened to the light mate - whose done this, have you damaged it?"
me " i dont know, i'll go an ask joe the c/h". as i disappear i hear shouting ...
joiners shouting at spreads " have you lot f'd up the generator - power's out?"
so was apprentice - joe had already left the building.

Funny story that, I have one about a light as well I'm plastering at ground level in a college I put my light in what I thought was a safe place and in the best position to shine on my work , unbeknown to me I put my light inside an elevator that was being serviced I can't remember if I knew it was an elevator out of action or it was an accident but as I'm plastering away the sparky up on the next level presses the elevator button sending my light up to the next floor snapping my lead which I wasent too happy about there was a few words exchanged and he agreed to rewire it with some lead he was carrying

Plasterings gotta be the worst trade to suddenly lose your light, in the middle of a set, can’t just pick it up an hour later...
