My Hotpoint freezer (model UH6F1CWUK) has started making a loud noise. I believe it is coming from the evaporator fan behind the top shelf. I would like to replace the fan myself but cannot see how to get at it. I have removed 2 long screws above the top shelf but that's all. Cannot see what to do next. Can anyone help? Photos attached.

Have you started by opening the doors, turning off the power, and letting it fully defost until it is fully dry inside and round the back in the collection dish?

the fan might be rubbing on long-term ice accumulation.

That's a good idea. I'll give it a go this weekend. Got to find a home for the food first.

Hi JohnD,

Just to let you that I believe your suggestion worked. The freezer is not making any noise and is now much colder than before.

Thanks very much for the tip.

that's good. The ducts that cold air is blown through are meant to defrost intermittently with a little heater, but if it fails, or if an ice blockage ever forms, it just seems to get worse and worse. solid ice is much slower to melt than light frost.
