Black & Decker BD155 drill

I was given a very solid B&D BD155RT electronic hammer drill. It only worked intermittently, for a rotation or two at most, and does not even do that now. Have cleaned commutator and replaced brushes to no avail. All visible wiring and mechanicals look in good shape and the trigger switch seems to work.

I suspect the electronic torque control (located on top of drill body) might be faulty; can it be tested and repaired, if not is it possible to bridge it so drill is locked in one setting? There are multiple wires leading from it to the motor, possibly controlling power to different windings. Have found an exploded diagram of whole drill but not a wiring diagram for the TCU. The model is obsolete so B&D site not helpful.

Thoughts appreciated!

It's at 30+ year old drill, parts do not exist, even if a repair was possible it will cost far more than just buying a new drill.

Thanks all for replies. It's Sod's Law that all 3 of my heavier drills failed for different reasons about the same time just when I needed them; one was brand new but that's another story. I was only planning a DIY repair job on this one, obviously not worth spending much. None of the online parts shops show the TCU as an available spare. My diagnosis might be wrong anyway. Think I'll save my pennies and, as suggested, invest in a new De Walt, Makita or similar.
