Operation Yellowhammer

Now after 40+ years the EU has create frictionless trade for member states. Around the world the EU has built up 759 trade agreements with 160 countries.

If the UK leave without a deal, all of this disappears.

So, the Spanish government won’t give two hoots about Carlos stuck with all his fruit and veg? Similarly the Italian government with their olives, the Dutch with their tulips, the Germans with their cars and the French with their garlic and, er, horse meat. Get real. They need our custom and they will come to an agreement, pretty quickly, that will suit both parties.

I've no doubt that there will be a huge economic impact post-leave and should we leave, there is no telling if that impact will be long or short term.

One thing that is irritating to me on both sides of the camp though is the dramatic statements. I've read that "everywhere is running out of medicine" and that surgeries "are stocking up on medicine". It seems a prudent thing to do anyway, but not one Trust in either the Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire Healthcare Communities have reported running out of medicine. In fact a real concern local to me at the moment is the amount of waste created due to the way drugs are ordered and handled.

Another bit of oft-quoted news that annoys me is this talk about army reservists being called up in preparation for a no deal. All major media outlets have reported a figure of 3,500 reservists being "held at readiness". That figure represents around just 3.2% of the serving and reservist army. Rather than soldiers walking the High Streets of Britain, they'll likely be asked to guard important sites. Again this seems like a prudent thing to do.

The vote was a dividing one and we'd be daft not to expect or prepare for civil trouble.

jammed ports, public protests and widespread disruption.

up to 85% of lorries using the main Channel crossings may not be ready for French customs,

Kerslake said the government no longer had adequate time to prepare for leaving without a deal and said it would result in "very serious disruption" which would be "disastrous" for the country and its economic prospects.

I wonder if the 'no dealers' will be shouting 'project fear, project fear' :ROFLMAO:

I wonder if the ones shouting the loudest will be from the industrial heartlands of the north.....where the damage will be worst.

I agrees with you, of course everybody wants a deal. I understand that.
Our European neighbours want to continue tradibg.

But here is the problem with the Leave argument:

'that will suit both parties'

The trade we currently share is only possible because the UK is within the single market.
We share the same regulations.

If we have a free trade deal with the EU, in order to continue enjoying the huge cost advantage of frictionless, tariff free, standard regulation trade we have to abide by the EU rules.
The UK is fully aligned with that system -leaving it be damaging.

It is not about reaching a deal with the EU, you cant have free moving trade if you leave the CU and single market.

We can have a free trade deal with the EU: they already have one, its the customs union.

If leave the single market and our regulations diverge, we will become a 3rd country and so border checks will be required.

There is not a need to get angry with me, because you are emotionally attached to leaving which prevents you from accepting the truth.

I understand you are unable nor willing to process the reality, but since you have responded to my post, I will reiterate the facts

Quite simply: UK business or the public are not prepared. And the UK has 0 trade deals for WTO. No country in the world trades that way.

Here is an extract in the Times:
It states that the public and businesses remain largely unprepared for no deal and that growing “EU exit fatigue” has hampered contingency planning which has stalled since the UK’s original departure date in March.

A senior Whitehall source said: “This is not Project Fear — this is the most realistic assessment of what the public face with no deal. These are likely, basic, reasonable scenarios — not the worst case.

More nonsense..Nothing new from you.

Ffs stop telling me you know what "everyone" wants..how the hell do you know what millions of people want

If Motman doesnt want a deal, why does he say the EU will cave in.

And I keep telling you, a 'no deal' is NOT an event merely a start of a process.

A no deal will just mean returning to the EU for a deal.

If you disagree -provide a valid counter argument or if you prefer a sarcastic comnent. Whichever suits you. :):):)
