Vaillant Ecotec Pro 28 Anti Cycling and Other Issues

Yeah sorry, the world of Salus, good when they work. Compare the price of them with some of their more reliable competitors and you see why they break.

The relay box should make an audible click when it’s status changes from off to on and vice versa.

If you are happy with electrics, POWER OFF, remove the relay box and disconnect/make safe the NO wire.

If this is wired right in the boiler, then when you power up again the rad symbol will be off.

Tried this but didn’t work. It does click when you switch between on and off.

I also noticed the neutral connection was really loose, so re did this but still no joy. Going by the rubbish connection on the neutral, I wouldn’t be surprised if the connections inside the boiler are bad. Am I able to check these connections myself? Looks like the front panel slides off or undoes from the bottom anyway. I would like to consider myself a reasonably competent person, but am I legally allowed to remove the front panel on this boiler? My old boiler it just flipped down and access to the electrics was easy.

I cannot provide advice inside the boiler casing. The front panel on your model is not decorative I’m afraid.

Fair enough and no worries! Thanks so much for all your help though. You’ve pretty much given your evening to helping me!

Hi, well what a day! We had a huge leak from one of the pipes under the floor where an incorrectly fitted pushfit connection had popped off, and the boiler was flushing water (and trying to heat it) out under the floor straight to ground. The plumber had to remove part of the kitchen cabinets, cut a hole in the floor and squeeze down through, and fix the leak. Whilst he was here he rewired the thermostat as it was indeed incorrectly wired!Luckily all has been sorted with minimum visible damage to the kitchen!

Towel radiator still not heating up, but will tackle that another day.

Thank you so much for all your help mrStat!

Cheers

Will
