EU immigration 'understated'.

That’s one of the things that should stop after a no deal Brexit then isn’t it?
No.
Any new trade deal will incude immigration as part of the package.

The UK needs immigration to feed its job market. 100,000 shortage in NHS etc.

By the way, you have deliberately ignored the fact that it is the UK government for not doing checks.

But since you are ignorant of the facts, even I have posted them and linked, you will of course blame the EU not the UK government.

Gee, what is wrong with you people (n)(n)(n)

Well, if that was the case and we could issue visas for a week that’d be no problem. Similarly, job offer with a work permit. That’s what other countries do and they’re not being bled dry. Try and do what many Europeans do to us in the USA or China for example and you’ll be back on the plane pretty smartish.

Why do some over here feel it’s a not problem to let any person into this country just because they’re in the European Union. Why shouldn’t they have to prove they have the means to support themselves once they are over here?

And I repeat for the umpteenth ****ing time, I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANYONE COMING OVER HERE FROM ANY OTHER COUNTRY TO DO A NECESSARY JOB OF WORK.

I note mottie still hasn't answered the questions regarding how to police the system he suggests, and how to differentiate between those entitled to be here and those not entitled to be here...

As always - big on hot air, but absolutely ziltch on the practical implementation!

Well, you start with a set of rules that you, not the EU, decide on. Decide who you want, work out a visa system and implement it at entry points to the UK in much the same way as any other country that is worth going to does. It’s not hard.

so stop blaming the EU for your ignorance (y)

We don’t really know how many people are in the UK without the proper permission. The Home Office doesn’t publish figures on this, so we have to rely on estimates.

The most recent estimate suggests that around 618,000 people could have been living in the UK without permission in 2007. But because this was an estimate, the study thought that in reality it could be anywhere between 417,000 and 863,000people. Of these around 442,000 (72%) were thought to live in London.

Surely you can tell us how this will work in practical terms!

Oh that's right, you don't want to admit that we'll all require ID cards...

Because in order to work out who doesn't 'belong here', you'll also have to have a way of working out who does 'belong here'!

I can see there’s some on this forum that shouldn’t even be in this country. You are the problem.

I hope that isn't directed at Ellal.

If so, that is quite frankly, a disgusting comment.

Makes me ashamed to be British

Just to state the bleeding obvious.

No country in the world knows how many illegal immigrants they have in their country.

Well, if that was the case and we could issue visas for a week that’d be no problem.

What a brilliant idea!

So, after the week is up, when the tourist does not return to the airport to go home, what do you do? How do you find them when they have moved to new accommodation?

This is the problem, and a problem that cannot be fixed with new policies. If somebody wants to be here illegally, they just don't go home. But, most people chose to go home, because for most people, especially most Europeans, they want to go home as soon as they have earned enough.

And the same does happen everywhere, we are not unique.

Brexit won't stop immigration, it will reduce trade and probably reduce tourism. Hey ho. If we leave, we won't really know the impact until a year or two later, after the summer tourism season, and after all the businesses have filed their tax returns.

Might be a good time to snap up some cheap B&Bs, but be quick, before the Chinese and Russian investors by them all.
