Need some advice from qualified reputable roofers in the know. My Neighbour is having his roof done (we get on well), however I didn't know about it until I came home from a trip away. I am concerned at the workmanship carried out where their new roof joins ours (semi detached), and I get the feeling that the roofer has bastardised my part of the roof in order to make the job easier. The roof at the rear of the house seems to have been fitted ok, where they have overlapped the tiles for the new roof into the tiles for my roof...…..so no problem there. However, there are a number of issues. The front and the rear of the roof, does not have the same roofline where it meets my roof (see photos). The roof at the back of the house is a good half a tile over to my side more than the front of the roof. Not A huge concern, however the porch at the front is even more at a tile and a half, so three sections of the roof are all odd. Then the major concern is the way the roof tiles at the front of the house have been laid. There is a 25 mm gap between their roof and mine. They have fitted a gutter board underneath, but it has not been mortared on either side of the tiles. They have cut my roof tiles back also. On the porch, they have just butted the tiles up to each other (with a gutter board underneath, but again not mortared) and it looks terrible. I am concerned that this is not sufficient and debris will drop down, in time block the gutter board, and then water will track sideways over the board and cause leaks. For clarity, the gutter board is the type that should be mortared, and not the dry gutter board with the centre upstand.
They have also stripped the ridge tiles back and put the new ones on the neighbours roof, but stripped some of mine back too and left site with them loose and just sat on the roof, no mortar.
Can I get some advice on the way the roof tiles should be either overlapped with mine, or at least dressed off to make them watertight and aesthetically sound as you can get them. It looks like a really bad job to me.
