Need a bath for a rental. So need one that is tough and hard wearing.

Any brands or makes as I should go for?

Carronite - available from all good merchants!

Thats better than a ceramic / porcelain bath.
Use a steel bath, practically bomb proof and cheap too .... if it gets chipped, then it comes out of the deposit.

Think of going for a bath shower combo - will save space and open up the bathroom.

I can't find a steel bath thats a bath shower combo.

Reading around I should go for a reinforced bath.

Look at Trojancast baths. Very sturdy with a 30 year warranty.

They seem well priced indeed. So I have read a bit about carronite from recommendation above, I assume this is similar quality?

Is the bath panel also reinforced? On the diagram it says 35mm.

Would I be able to get this from a local plumbers merchants - one of the bigger chains?

they're very heavy. I injured myself lifting one on my own.

Strong and rigid. But don't let the tiler drop anything in it and damage the surface.

Make sure you're looking at the price of the reinforced one. The same bath, basic, is much cheaper, and not as good.

I got the best price from ordering mine. Think it was a supplier in Darlington. Might have been the one in the disused chapel on the hill. but it was delivered from the factory's distributor.

They do a light and a reinforced panel. Pay the extra for the strong one.

If you get an odd-shaped bath, it may be very difficult to get a replacement panel if the original is damaged.

Yes, very similar quality to Carronite at a lower price. As JohnD says, they're very heavy due to their solid construction.

You may have more luck with a local independent merchant than a big national, although the Bathroom Supastore prices are hard to beat. Plumbase sell them under their Suregraft brand - look at the "Suregraft Cast" ones which are rebranded Trojancast. They're expensive if you don't have an account. City Plumbing can get them in theory but they're special order in to the branch and again they're likely to hit you hard if you don't have an account

The matching bath panels are reinforced

Thats cast but it says 25yrs warranty at £491 - shouldn't cast be 30yrs warranty?

https://www.bathroomsupastore.com/t...r-bath-1500-x-850-with-panel-screen-left-hand

That's £468 including bath side panel and screen. I don't know whether that panel is reinforced but the end panel is 3mm. Will need to check that.

Would plumbase prices be near basthroom supastore if I get a plumber to buy it. The only issue I have with buying from bath supastore is that I will need them delivered to the property and have someone there to receive them. I am not sure whether my plumber has an account with plumbase and I am sure he will get it from a local supplier if he can but he's not going to be ringing round to find out who that is (I don't blame him).

That place?

I called Trojan - they only make one type of panel for the L shaped bath and its a acryclic panel.

I don't remember it being so big, but perhaps. The hill runs up towards the top ridge where the High Level Station is (other side is Park Lane). There is a dentist downhill from there, and a local baker that does curd tarts. Might have changed now. The historic old low-level station is further down the hill and off the main road.

As far as finishes are concerned then an enamel coated bath is the hardest and longer lasting, the finish on a plastic bath will never last as long.

Unfortunately though, there are only a couple that do shower baths (flat area at one end) but they are expensive. Never seen a P or a B Shaped steel bath tho.

So BathSupastore is £507 - trojancast bath, front & end panel, L shape shower screen

PlumbBase is £734.19 - would they price match?

Or get anywhere close to that, if not then I will just order online.

PLumbase items are: Bath B056278 = £491.29
End Panel B079683 = 29.36
front Panel B056292 = 67.84
L-shape Screen B056588 = 149.94

Kaldewei (steel tubs) baths are excellent for rentals.

Plus they are cheap (y)

the user can use them as a shower bath but consider when offering a shower in a rental, the shower has to be installed correctly
