Laying pf100 / wf100 cable from aerial through rooms

If pf100 or wf100 cable is connected to a chimney-mounted TV aerial, then ran down the roof and into bedroom 1 where it's connected to a wall-set aerial socket outlet.

In order to provide a TV socket outlet in a second bedroom and also to the ground floor front/back rooms, is it just a matter of connecting a new cable to the socket in bedroom 1, bringing it through to bedroom 2, then again a new cable and running this to ground floor room 1 and lastly a new from cable from this to ground floor room 2?

Unless you have a very strong signal this will probably not work as each cable has to be matched to its characteristic impedance otherwise there is a large signal loss. You need a distribution amplifier, preferably near to the aerial (say in the attic, and then separate cable feeds to the tv positions). If the signal is very strong you can use a set of three resistors of the correct value, in a star network at the first socket, but this is hit and miss at best.

You need a splitter or distribution amplifier depending on the signal power levels. Aerial connections should not be daisy chained.

In most cases you don't need an amplifier. Try a splitter first.

So says someone who wrongly suggested a resistive splitter with three resistors. With 3 resisters you can only split two ways and it is the most lossy way of doing it.

A properly designed fully screened inductive splitter is the correct type and does not cost much.
