hi
While I was in the loft I found one of the roof planks splitting at the end, a small branch splitting out. I suspect it has been like that for a long time. The house was built in early 90s and I have lived here for 13 years. Is it normal? As the end of plank does not support weight directly, I guess it’s ok? Any advice appreciated! A photo attached.

By the way, the plank is very long across the roof, the small branch splitting happens at one end, as shown in photo

How about smearing some glue into the split and driving in a few screws in to clamp it back together?

Looks like It’s a timber acting as a tie so split Is of little consequence .
