Does the RCD trip when you press the test button? The device on the far right in your CU.

Hi Guys, I lied I am not fine....and I am about to throw my husband out. Just eaten dinner and filled the dishwasher and touched the metal on the door inside, I almost shot across the room, every metal part is LIVE. This shock was even worse than yesterdays as it was all four fingers, its definitely live without a doubt. I am going to be very vigilant with my heart today. But what could suddenly make my dishwasher live, could it be the plug. I've attached photo's of my electric box and wires, my property is rented and everything is modern fuse box wise. The photo's are of my fuse box, my electric meter, the yellow and green wires under my fuse box and the yellow and green wires going to my stock cock.
Yesterday I had my hand on my metal sink when I touched the dishwasher.

Why the hell did you do that!!! Advice apart from perhaps having your heart monitored, I think you may need your head examining, Isolate it and call an electrician for all of our sakes.

There might be a problem with the house wiring as well, as such a fault should trip the supply before anyone had a chance to touch it.

For once Winston talks sense, something else may be live and you are Earthing yourself via the dishwashers earth.

As usual Winston talks sense, something else may be live and you are earthing yourself via the dishwashers earth.

Corrected that for you.

But what could suddenly make my dishwasher live,
It's faulty and dangerous.
There are also other serious faults with the installation, as live parts should cause fuses to blow / circuit breakers to trip if metal casings of appliances become live.
Touching live parts should trip the RCD.

Hardly. That mess is at least 20 years old, has clearly been modified as the labelling doesn't match up with the circuit breakers and is missing most of the required warning notices including the one that indicates the last inspection date. They may have been on the front cover which has been broken off and is missing.
There is a missing blank plate in the front leaving a large hole with live parts exposed inside.
Shower on a 32A MCB is also rather unlikely, although not impossible.
The red tape on the circuit breaker should not be there and may be concealing some other problem.

The only sensible actions are:
a. unplug the dishwasher and do not use it again
b. press the test button on the RCD top the right side of the consumer unit. It should switch off.
c. contact the landlord and have the missing parts replaced on the consumer unit. If the RCD doesn't trip when the button is pressed, that will need to be replaced as well.
Also find out when the last inspection was done.

Touching live parts "may" trip the RCD. 30mA is a serious shock and even at half that you'll be jumping around in pain with no chance of tripping the RCD.

As pointed out, it may be the sink that is live rather than the dishwasher, and if the fault was derived from one of the non-RCD protected circuits (screw through cable or chafing etc) then no protection is afforded.

An electrician needs calling.

Does the G/Y only go to the pipes? No main earth to the cut-out?

That earth bond is connected to... plastic pipe!

And I suspect if it were connected to a metal pipe, one of your circuits would not stay in service.

I wasn't touching the sink the second time. I shut the dishwasher off now but I can't find a plug for it, I only have a switch on the wall in the kitchen where you can turn the dishwasher and washing machine on and off! I am going to test the RCD to see if it trips, I it always has done in the past, even with a blown light bulb.

It certainly looks as if it very probably is.

However, to be fair, the purpose of bonding (of metal{!}, and when it is required) is not to earth the pipes.

Kind Regards, John

AS has been said, you really shouldn't have let it happen 'a second time'. However, since you did, can you remember what else were you touching at the time you got the second shock? - it's not possible to get a significant shock by touching just one thing.

Kind Regards, John
