Woke up this morning to a power cut and noticed the ACL Lifestyle LP241 Heating Controller was still OFF when I switched the power back on at the mains

On the wall next to the ACL Lifestyle is the Power Switch with a 3AMP Fuse in it. I changed this and it blew the Fuse and tripped the power at the mains when I switched this Power Switch back on. Tried this a three more times with the same results....fuse blows, although with one fuse, the display came on but when I selected Advance to switch on the Hot Water, it blew the fuse and tripped the power again

Any ideas why this is suddenly happening?

As shown below (without a fuse in)

Just to note we have the Pump and Mid Position Valve in the upstairs Airing Cupboard

Thanks

Most likely to be the pump but not always, with power off remove and isolate the wires from the pump, turn the power back on and see if it stops the fuse from blowing if it does , new pump time, you can normally smell it when you take the cover off the pump

Thanks for your reply

The Pump is the Wilo Gold rs50

Do I remove all 3 wires and put a Terminal Block on each or just remove the Live one?

Thanks

just remove the live and isolate it into a terminal block before turning the power back on

Okay

Cannot find any Terminal Blocks around the house or shed...thought I had some. So it will have to wait until tomorrow

When I do try this. What if the power still blows the fuse after taking the Pump out of the equation?

Thanks

Then you know its not the pump, and could be any one of a number of things causing a short circuit.....engineer time.
By the way ,was power cut external or something tripped on your CU ? If so what tripped ?

When I got up this morning everything was off as regards lights and sockets. Only the big Grey switch next to 'Test' had gone to OFF at the Mains (Back on as Picture shows but if I tried another Fuse in the Heating Controller it would go to Off)

Immediately I noticed the ACL Lifestyle LP241 Heating Controller was Off and replaced the 3A Fuse and it blew again (as my first post)

Everything else in the house is fine

Are you sure no other breakers tripped ,as well as the RCD (RCCB ) ? Your lights should not have gone off if that's all that tripped ,as they are not protected by the RCD ?

just wrap it in insulation tape it is only a temporary test

Well I have had a Shower , Cooked Tea and all the Sockets are okay

Now the Water Heater shows as ON. Is this the Cylinder Tank with the green 'coat' on in the Airing Cupboard what you can just see on my image of the Pump. I switched this to ON around 2pm via the cable coming from the top of it to a On/Off switch above where the Pump and Mid Position Valve is, as I wondered if it would give us some hot water but it has not. Is this due to the Valve and Pump not functioning?

That will teach you for not answering my question regarding LIGHTS !!!!!
Seriously though ,the shower /sockets and cooker are not an issue, but if your lights stopped working when the RCD tripped there is a concern around the wiring in your CU.

Shall I try another Fuse again in the ACL Lifestyle LP241 Heating Controller and see what trips and see if the lights are okay

Thanks

NO. Just turn off the RCD ( or press its test button ,which will trip it ). And see if your lights still work. Which they should.

Pressed the Test Button and sockets went off but the lights stayed on
