Hi All,
I have a Beko Frsot-Free Fridge Freezer, model num CXF 5083W. Its about four years old.
It just suddenly stopped cooling in both sections.

I turned it off for a several days. There is a thing about ice buildup in drainage areas, and some water came out, not much. When switched on the compressor seems to start up and run ok, but only for a few mins, then stops.
Ive checked the thermostat setting, its a electronic type, see picture. Basically its a variable resistor, which wired to a control board somewhere. I dont know where. I removed the thermostat unit, and with a multimeter checked the variable resitor changing as I moved the setting wheel. Checked at the wiring plug too. All seems good.
I can find a replacement for the board easily, and its cheap, but I really think I don't need it.

So what next to check, and in what order ?
Could it be the main compressor ? Is this a DIY job ?
What about the Compressor start relay ? Ive found these, but £30 each, non returnable.
Could it be leaked gas ? How to check and fix ?
Could it be the main control board ? Where is it ?
Any thing else ?

Does anyone have a parts list and/or exploded diagram to work out where the various parts are, like the main control board, the compressor starter relay etc ?

Any help apprecaited.

Cheers, Colin.

It would appear it is not the start relay as you say it runs for a little while. I doubt it is the compressor for the same reason, but if it was it is not a diy job & probably not worth paying someone to do it. Are the 4 wires 2 for the thermostat & 2 for a light/led & if so does that bit work?

Hi JJ,

Thanks for your reply and comments. Good to know that if the compressor runs, for even just a short time, that means the relay for it is ok.
I agree if it is a compressor fault, or gas, it will be beyond econmic repair.

Yes the four wires are as you say:
Two for the bulb, which works fine, comes on/off as door open/closed.
Two for the temp selector control variable resistor.

On the BEKO website (https://www.bekospares.co.uk/)
I've found a bit of exploded diagrams, which identify where the main control board could be.
I will try take it out to get exact part number, seems they are around £25 new on ebay, £45 on Beko site. So migth be worth a try.
Usually electronic boards cannot be returned once connected, so if it doesnt fix the problem that would be a waste.

There is also a wiring diagram on the Beko website, so I should be able to check some of the thermostat sensors at that end too.

Cheers. Colin.

The reviews on the Beko site suggest this is a common fault & that the same part is available cheaper from other suppliers.
