So who on here is sad because at the end of the day he clearly has been pro remain, and being pro brexit yes id prefer an impartial speaker, no i strictly do NOT want a pro brexit speaker voted in either.
Lets just recap:
Baron Alderdice said on Twitter: “I am pro-Remain, but I am also a former Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
“I believe that John Bercow is damaging the position of the Speaker of the House of Commons by his failure to remain non-partisan, as is his responsibility.”

Earlier this year, Mr Bercow threw out parliamentary precedent to allow a vote on an amendment to a Government motion tabled by Tory rebel Dominic Grieve.

Leavers should bear in mind that by tradition next speaker should be a labour MP.
He/she also needs to be voted in. With no majority, the tories could be worse off with the replacement.

In the case of Bercow he was the one bending parliamentary rules to suit his own agenda.
I read that Bercow was staying until Brexit day. Surely he needs to retire within the next decade?

Actually - the current system dates from Speaker Martin's election
The process is governed by the Father of the House.
Considering that ken Clarke is FoH withdrawing the whip might not have been the most sensible thing?
