My patio door refuses to lock. All hooks engage but the key goes round so far and then no more, no matter how hard I try. It's a sliding door. I have removed the lock and the black thing in the middle turns ok, but the bit that sticks out looks quite worn. As a new lock is an easy fix, does anyone think it's something else.....
Also the lock seems an odd size, from what I have searched, it seems to be called a half euro, and it is 60mm in length with 50mm one side 10mm the other. Can't find any on screwfix or toolstation. Is this size non standard. Be grateful for any advice.

If the bit that is worn is on the lock worth a try . You should be able to operate the locking by flicking the lever inside the door with an allen key held in a pair of mole grips to check that part.

Ok Thanks. I will give that a try today, see if I can operate the lock. The bit that is work is the raised bit on the cylinder that spins in the lock cylinder. I presume this is what operates the lock itself.

Yes the bit that sticks out of the lock operates the lever in the door.
