Looking at changing the wiring to 2 Downlights and get rid of a junction box and be able to control both of each switch.

The first image is of what is currently present.

The second is what I'm looking to do.

Currently 1 switch does only 1 light so I'm looking to control both lights off each switch. Between the switches and lights is 2metres max.

The main incoming is long enough to go straight to a downlight.

Do I:

1) Main incoming into #1 downlight then chain from #1 downlight to #2
2) #1 light to #1 switch
3)#1 switch to #2 switch

Thanks

You will need to replace the switch cables with three core and earth otherwise you can't have two-way switching.

Thanks for that.

As the Downlights are class 2, when I connect the main T + E to the first downlight do I connect the Earth anyway even though it says not needed?

I have plastic boxes and will be putting metal switch plates on.

Thanks

The earth connection must be continuous from the incoming supply through all of the cables up to the lights, even if the downlights themselves are Class II.
Metal switch plates must also be earthed.
