Hi,

I am considering using the light switch back box for all cable connections rather than a junction box or ceiling rose. I intend to use spring clip connectors (Wago) in the back box.

i am going to install 35mm or 47mm back boxes but the issue I forsee is that one of the light switches is 3 gang 2 way switch.

This means I will have x5 1mm T+E and x3 1mm 3 core+E going into the back box.

Is this feasable or should I wire in a different method?

Thanks for any advice

Yes, it's feasible, but

surely you will only need a Wago for the Neutral wires - and possibly the CPCs(earth wires) if using plastic switches.

An ordinary connector block would be smaller.

If you use Hager accessories, their switches have a N terminal built-in.

I wouldn't say you need 47mm, unless there are dimmers and lots of wiring in the boxes.

Would the live wires simply go into the switch face plate?

I don't think it's that basic. I've just never made all the connections in the light switch back box before only ceiling rose and junction boxes. I was going to use wago for the live connections (5 way with fly lead to L1 on switch face plate) as I thought it would be tidier. The light switches are metal flatplate with no neutral terminals.

yeah it's possible if using 1mm.

I'm sure my house has 5 cables going into a 25mm single, 3 gang
earths to back box and neturals jointed. (don't needs wago as its accessible)

don't need wago for the live connections

live in to Com, wire link to the next Com, wire link to next Com, then wire out to next room

Thanks for the helpful reply. That's what I envisaged although I think there will be 8 cables coming into box as it's a 2 way 3 gang switch. Loop in, loop out, x3 to light fitment and x3 to other 3 gang switch.
