Hi guys

Got a Prem elite 64 -w live panel to install at the weekend and am just doing the programming on wintex so i can send it straight over.

I have updated to wintex 7.0 yet. When i go to select panel type i dont have the 64w-live in the drop down box.

I take it i just select the elite 64?

thanks

Thankyou, thought that was the case.

Regarding programming and learning.....

I will be using one hard wired contact on the panel and 4 wireless devices. Is the process to learn all the devices to the panel and send my program over via the usb/com AFTER they are learned?

If so i take it i just need to note which zones i learn each device to so i can match up the programming?

Thanks

No you will wipe out the wireless.

learn the devices on, receive all, save then program in wintex and send back and save completed profile, remember to do the commissioning mode.

or

program in wintex, send the data across, learn the devices on , receive all back in to wintex and save.

Thanks secure

I will do the first as it seems most logical.

so to confirm

1, install and power main panel with my one hard wired zone
2, learn all the devices on.
3, connect USB/Com and recieve
4, program
5, send back and save

What is commisioning mode? Ive never used that, only ever used the diagnostics tools on hard wired panels.

its to establish the ricochet mesh.

I would save after you received the data too, but it wont kill you if you don't.

Wont be the first time I have got distracted and sent back an empty profile and you have to relearn the devices again, not so bad if its a few wireless devices from a kit, but when you get into double or high double figures on a big property it can take a lot of time relearning devices as you go round the property.

I can imagine that is a bit frustrating!!

How do i get to the commisioning mode and at what point do i do that?

Also, would i be right in thinking i can learn all device (including sounder) and then fix them all in locations after?

Texecom may advise differently, for installers they do offer free training and other training that is paid for.

I tend to learn in and program in the office and then fix on site. |On the wireless box, I set up all the jumpers, mainly only change the battery jumper to on, but I disconnect the battery lead, find it easier to plug that back in than move the battery jumper to on whilst up the ladder.

Main advantage is any problems (there wont be normally) you can be happy things are all good before you do the job and its a case of putting them in place, after testing in the office I put the plastic back to stop battery being used.

chances are as the wireless expander that's built into your unit will be in commissioning mode already, theres a jumper to move it across, I prefer to commission after everything is in place, ie move jumper to comissioning mode and watch ricochet monitor as it goes through the sequence good time to have a brew it can take a while and have start tidying up if you haven't already.

If you go to the Texecom forum you can see what others are doing and what Texecom advise.

Thanks for the info Secure, just signed up to the texecom forum.

Would be good if i could play with it all before install so i could set up at home beforehand. Is there a way of doing this? i.e stick 240v onto the panel from a lead and program and learn all devices? Would the panel not 'forget' the devices if i did this on removal of the 240v?
If i could do this would i disconnect the batteries in each device after ive set it all up until i got to site?

You will have to do the commissioning mode when the devices are up in place, other than that the panel just needs power.

It be a bit pointless if it did lose devices after power was lost.

Following on from this

I installed panel, learnt the devices, recieved data to wintex, programmed and saved, sent data back to panel.

The bellbox, PIR's, contacts all appear to work including the one wired zone.

The only issue i seemed to have was with with the commisioning mode and ricochet monitor from the wintex software.

1, Firstly the commisioning mode, the panel had the jumper in place but i dont know if there was something special i had to do to start the commisioning process?

2, When i launch the ricochet from wintex it opens up two other tabs one of which works and the other doesnt, software quirk?
The one that works i can use the signal strength tool which takes 10 minutes before coming back with my five devices in yellow?
Is this ok as i would expect the green as its a small house and devices are close?

3, I cannot seem to do a walk test from the ricochet software as the tab is just blanked out. I also cannot seem to do one from the panel as when i try the panel just says 'none' after the area select screen. Any ideas?

Can anyone indicate the best way to solve these issues?

Many thanks

1. put in commissioning mode by putting in a wireless expander in tamper or with a built in expander move jumper to commissioning mode, when complete move the jumper back or secure the tamper.

2. no idea, only get one open when I do it.
I would always do mesh once everything is in place, signal security works by how many devices a device can see and get back to the expander, red is poor, yello is okay, green is good, big green bar excellent.

signal strength can be seen by number of bars in each device in ricochet monitor, or in richochet diagnostics.

3. wireless devices can be seen going active in richochet monitor, but doing a walk test via the keypad is what I prefer,
engineer utilities/ walk test. can also be done from Master user.

wireless sensors (PIR's) may not activate in walk test if they were activated in the last 3 mins or so, you can confirm this by leaving it at least five minutes since last walking in front of a detector.

other issues could apply but these could depend on the PIR and the monuting height and how tall you are or panel programming.

Its a live 64w so expander built in........so simply putting in eng mode and moving the jumper will start commisioning? Do i have to be in Wintex diagnostics when i do this? I never seemed to get any indication i was in commisioning mode or when it had finished? A step by step would be really useful Secure, the manual for this part seems non existent.

How do i do mesh?

It is like i cannot access a walk test to start it as in ricochet mode i canot press the walk test button and from the panel/keypad the walktest says 'none'

If I do commissioning I use wintex and ricochet monitor and put the expander in tamper or move the jumper across.

technically you can open the panel and move the jumper across to start commissioning, but you would have to silence the tamper.

walk test says none until a device is activated

So just open the panel up and move the jumper over and silence the tamper? (in eng mode or normal?)

My devices all being yellow for signal strength - is there any way to improve this?

Thanks
