Hi

I’m looking to replace an old installation in my own house. Essentially much of what exists will be stripped out, with new PIR’s, contacts etc (many are damaged / old technology) leaving just the wiring to be re-used. The system works (after a fashion). The current install uses all 8 zones, 1 keypad, 2 internal speaker / sounders and 1 external sounder. The system works (after a fashion). I have no Engineers code.

Haven’t yet settled on a replacement. Still doing my homework. I’ve installed several alarms in the past without issue, but this one has some ‘challenging’ connections.

The panel is a CT2250 which I believe is a Castle Caretech model. Before I start, I figured it was sensible to identify what is coming in and out of the existing Board. I've identified all of the zones and I'm fine with most of the rest, but a few elude me. I can probably sort this out when I start disconnecting everything, but happier if I go in eyes open. Despite much googling I cannot find any installation manuals on this specific panel.

Photo attached. The one's I'm querying are...

1 RX - presumably this is the data for the (single) keypad
The Block of 3:- O (maybe C - sorry - poor photo), X, and SP - no idea on these - although SP would suggest Speaker. My guess is that these are related to one of the internal sounders, which is a CQR SOINT.

(and yes, I'm aware of the resistors!)

Many thanks

The speaker connections are to the right of the zone 8 terminals (labelled "SPKR") I would hazard a guess that the other connections you are enquiring about are for the remote keypad (the red, black, green, white, blue and yellow on the left side of the board) Easiest way would be to trace the cores and see if they go into the same cable (the cable may even be labelled on the sheath)

Thanks Scott. You're probably right, although the sounders in the house make a variety of beeps and chimes depending on what's going on at the panel, which suggests there is something more than power going to them.

No labelling. Dont be fooled by the yellow sticker you can see on one of the cables. It contains nothing!

I'm sure I'll figure it out when I disconnect everything. The keypad will be replaced anyway. The sounders are about the only things I'd keep, which is why I'm interested by them.

It's been fun finding the zones. One of the magnetic contacts was attached to a door that has been bricked up!!
