Hi,

New user here. Father-in-law recently installed Vertias8 alarm system in house. Installation seems fine as this is replacement on an older model. However walk test seems to be giving an error. As per the guide:

"The control panel has a Walk Test facility to check the operation of the system's detection devices.
  1. Enter your 4 digit code !!!!. The Unset light will flash.
  2. Press 'PROG'. All the zone lights will illuminate.
  3. Enter 06.
Initially all the zone lights will turn off and the control panel will sound the quiet exit tone. When any zone is opened the control panel will illuminate the corresponding zone light."

Problems & Queries:
  1. After step-3, Zones light don't turn off and red LED appears for all 4 zones. There is alarm sound. Not sure what might be the problem as the guide and installation manual have no explanation for this.Panel state after Step-3 is attached
  2. PIRs in this models dont have any red LED. Not sure if that is a problem or new design

Any help is appreciated

short circuit/ blown fuse for Aux power.

modern panels have a self resetable fuse, rather than a glass fuse.

if its the self reset, then need to find the short, if its the glass fuse you can test it to see if its blown, if you replace it and it blows again you need to find the short.

most PIR's have red or blue status LED's, wireless have none usually except when in walk mode and device activated.

unlikely to be wireless on a Veritas.

Some PIR's have the option to disable the LED, but again this is unlikely on a Veritas.

If you didn't have to walk in front of the PIR to activate the walk test zone led then there is no power to the PIR's and these will activate in a walk test immediately.

@secureiam much appreciate the response. FIL said he would check the power to the PIRs this evening - if no power, then would check the fuse and replace it, and take it from there

The lights come on as walk test is selected & go out when tested. ?

@secureiam checked the voltage across the auxiliary points and there is a voltage of 12.02V across it. A voltage across the power points on the PIR is 11.87. Therefore there appears not to be any power loss, blown fuse or short circuit.

Then in that case your not in the menu you think you were in.

06 is a non latching walk test and as such unless the device is permanently active the device light would go out.

for 4 zones to have gone out with power to the pirs does not make any sense.

19 is a latching walk test, this you would expect to stay permanently on after a device is activated.

Thanks. Tried 19 as well, same results (all zones' LEDs on)

After 06, lights persist. Pressing reset x 3 clears all lights but doesn't enter into the walk test mode. Entering user code or entering program thereafter doesn't do anything

when done then press 11 tell me whats displayed then press rest once whats displayed

by the way I am expecting your pressing say 1234 prog 60

if that's the case you enter a code of 4 diigits and no more, this represents changing the code.

that's why reset 3 times should enure you are out of all the menus.

After entering 11 - no change.
Then pressing reset causes all zone lights to come on and stay on

okay this doesn't quite follow the process advised.

but code prog (all lights illuminated (if it doesn't then your either in a menu already, or its not a valid code) Pressing reset takes you back a level, hence entering several times should take you all the way back to day mode.

11 is the programming for zone 1, which means that code prog 11 would take you to number 6 normally which is entry exit.

the fact you have nothing suggests you not entering the programming correctly.

so reset several times user code prog, or
reset several times user code 00, should get you into the menus all the zone leds should be illuminated, 00 is for older panels.
