ip address different on router and AP

Hi,
I have a BT router with IP 192.168.1.254 but I also have an IPCOM W30AP with IP address 192.168.0.254.
My problem is I cannot access the IPCOM AP due to the difference in the third number.

I am after setting it up as an AP for my router.
How can I access the IPCOM AP to change the IP address to 192.168.1.x

Any help would be much appreciated.

you can connect to it through an ethernet cable directly, go to the web page:
http://192.168.0.254 ( it may need to be https at the beginning)

Login Username: admin
Login Password: admin

the interface should then allow you to change the IP address.

Thanks for the quick response. It just keeps saying the connection has timed out.
The W30AP has been reset and has a green flashing light on the front.

The info is on page 12 for the config and login.

You may not have the defaults on the device so try this (from page 36):
To restore factory default by pressing the hardware reset button:
1.Remove the cover of the device.
2.Press the RST button with a needle for about 7 seconds.

I would recommend reading the manual first to make sure I'm not talking complete bollards of course.

I think the problem is that my router is on 192.168.1.254, my pc is on 192.168.1.xx and the AP is on 192.168.0.254 but unsure how to rectify this issue

You need to login to the Access Point using your laptop, an ethernet cable and the login info above, change the IP address of the AP on the web page it gives then reboot it and it should pick up this new config. It is covered in page 6 (the 12th actual page) of the manual.

The gateway address is the address of your BT router.
Keep the same subnet mask as the BT Router
Keep the same DNS server as the BT Router
Set the DHCP server to the address of the BT Router.

I believe this will do the trick. This acts then as an extension of the BT router and any devices connecting to it will route devices to it for a DHCP addresses, preventing conflicts.

I should add that the actual IP address you give the Access Point should be one that is not in the DHCP range or manually assigned to any devices.

You will need to login to the BT router (on a web browser, go to 192.168.1.254) and check the DHCP scope to identify spare IP addresses

Do not have wifi on, do not connect to your router in any way.

ONLY use an ethernet cable to the AP.
