Sorry for the question, complete novice, I have a Heatstore boiler which supplies the taps and bath/shower, with a Horstmann electronic 7 controller.

I’ve had a number of RCD trip in the last few days and I’ve nailed it down to that combination.

If I reset the RCD and the heater system and press boost, the RCD trips

I’m unsure if this is a plumber/heater problem or an electrician problem?

Anyone care to point me in the right direction

1. I think you'll find the Heatstore is a hot water cylinder, not a boiler.
2. If it has a Horstmann controller with a boost function, then it probably has:
2a. An immersion heater near the bottom of the cylinder. This is likely to be fed from an Economy 7 or similar low rate overnight tariff.
2b. Another immersion heater about two thirds the way up the cylinder. This is likely to be fed with standard rate electricity via the Horstmann controller on the boost function.
3. From the symptoms you describe it is likely that the upper immersion heater has a short circuit fault, so that whenever it is used, it causes an RCD (and / or MCB) to trip.
4. If your cylinder is an unvented one (no cold water storage tank in the property), then whoever fixes it has to have a G3 qualification, which is normally a plumbing qualification.
5. If your cylinder is a vented one (and I'm not sure Heatstore make vented cylinders) no G3 qualification is required.
6. A decent plumber should be able to test the existing immersion and confirm the true cause of the fault.
7. If it is an unvented cylinder, the immersion must be replaced with the one specified (and normally supplied) by the manufacturer. An "off the shelf" immersion must not be used.
8. Again, if it is an unvented cylinder, these should be serviced annually. If the property is one you rent, the landlord should pay for this service, otherwise its your responsibility.
