Nearly finished a loft conversion and left with this wall.

We need storage but unsure how to build into that recess and if to have sliding wardrobe doors just in front of that or go all the way along.

Red is 380
Green is 244
Blue is 70
Yellow is 178

Deep angled bit is 600 deep and the shallower bit is 38

Also what sort of price would I be looking at if I paid someone to do it.

obv spec makes it a bit of a 'piece of string'

but in general a 3m run of made to measure wardrobes, fitted with MFC wood grain carcase interior and painted exterior would be in the region of £4k

Wow that much.

More than the cost of our new bathroom.

I can recommend trying Gliderobes. Their website has a configurator where you can input measurements and choose the style. They’ve been very good in the past for me. Their factory is in Derbys and you can either DIY or pay for one of their fitters to come to check measurements and install.

I would have guessed closer to £3000 but I am willing to bow to Notch7's superior knowledge.

That said, a high quality hand painted finish is not cheap. I recently had to paint 8 (450*1800) recessed MDF wardrobe doors, I charged about £115 per door excluding paints. If I had to spray them with acid-cat they would have been about £160-170 per door ex materials.

Once you go off spec prices increase massively. The factory in China (for example) can pump out standard sized units dirt cheap. Go bespoke, someone has to adjust the table saw for every single cut, then they have to edge the boards manually. Bespoke is very labour intensive, labour is often more expensive than the materials used to mass produce the likes of Ikea wardrobes.

To be honest I expected about £2500-£3000

I need to get the room finished and then get some quotes.

As someone that spent many years painting cabinets as my bread and butter, I would strongly recommend approaching cabinet makers rather than carpenters or builders.

A cabinet maker will go the extra mile with regards to designing the fitting process, The builder/chippy is more likely to drive screws through the front face of the edge trims and expect the decorator to fill the holes. As the decorator, I can attest that if I fill a countersunk 5mm screw hole, it will "blow" at some point, it doesn't matter which kind of filler I use, at some point the filler will push out

If I am asked to quote a unit built by a jobbing (ie non workshop) chippy, joiner or builder I will need to add up to 50% over the cost of painting it. Holes aside, I might spend 2 or three hours sanding away the saw marks on the door edges.

Ultimately you need to set a budget and decide what quality of finish you want. The price quoted by Notch7 sounds like the kind of price point where you smile when you hand the money over (handing over the money hurts but you can't see any faults).

Have you considered the DIY route? I DIY'd two build-in wardrobes in our house and they both set me back around £300 all in.
