Steel toe caps

I spend a bit on boots and buy non metal boots.

There's a big difference in comfort the more you spend the better the boot.
The OP should try composite ones. I find there’s a lot more wiggle room in the toe area. I bought a pair of these a few weeks ago. Very light and comfortable. https://www.diy.com/departments/site-magma-safety-boots-size-9/5052931864836_BQ.prd

I also bought these which are not steel toe cap and they are a bit pinchy so need breaking in. Not cheap so you don’t always get comfort when you spend a few bob. Caught again! https://www.soletrader.co.uk/dr-martens-2976-boots/2976snco/

Dr Marten boots have been cruddy ever since they started making them in Asia some years back. What was once a bloomin good buy, expensive but lasted years, comfy from the offset are now uncomfortable, leak water, don't last and stupidly pricey.

Bloody Asians.

I too am in the market for some new boot, my current V12 ones have lasted me 2 years but are now in need of replacing.
Although I'm a wide foot, a 10.5 fits well but I rarely see half sizes these days so it has to be an 11 with thick socks.

Although I wont buy them online, as IM wearing them for 5 days a week I want to try them on first.
Composite caps seem fine.
