I know there are tons of questions from people asking whether they can use flexible tap connectors for central heating. To which the answer is always no.

The reason why I am looking into flexible hosing is that my pipes knock. That's fine by itself as the noise from the pipes is muffled by the floorboards and carpet. The issue is when the knocking get transmitted to the radiators through the rigid copper pipes. The large surface area of the radiator really amplifies the sound. I'm guessing that if connect the pipes to the radiator using flexible hosing, the sound will not get transmitted.

I came across these flexi hoses from RS specifically for CH. They are rated by to 10bar at 85C, which ought to be more than sufficient for CH systems. They are made from EPDM rubber, the kind of stuff they use on roofs.

Has anyone used them before?

I'm not planning to use the flexi hoses under the floorboards. Only from where the copper pipes come up and to the radiator itself. This keeps them above the floor so that I can see should the hoses fail.

Nope, never used then and TBH never would. They may possibly cause problems with a system longer term. Not sure how stable they would be with inhibitor and the like either, that and it really just wouldn't look right ... if nothing else.

Being able to watch the water flooding everywhere isn't going to help you very much. They're unlikely to develop a weep, much more likely to burst open

as @45yearsagasman says these hoses were used when fitting Plinth heaters , you dont see many these days but still a few around, I have a pair in my garage that must be 30 years old as came with a replacement heater that was only a few weeks old, doubt they will ever get used

Most oil boilers have flexi hoses between the expansion vessel and the boiler body. I 've yet to see one fail, except for blockage. They are quite restrictive, but may work over a short length. Connections would be bulky (3/4" female to 1/2" male), but they would be hidden behind the radiator.
Aesthetically, if flexis are accepted in cistern feeds and basin taps, to many, they would be acceptable. The pipework purist will never like them.
