All signs of a battery failure, I'm afraid.....unfortunately its not just a case of buying a new one as the replacement has to be coded to the car.
This fault often occurs when you try to start the car when the battery voltage is too low.

Many thanks john i have passed the message to Young Graduate!
Regards will slow charge help the battery come alive?

Yes, I think a 'smart charge' could help - for at least a while!
(I've seen this problem on a Mini, rather than a genuine Beemer - which is where I'm basing my hunch on this one.)
Hope it sorts things!
John :)

Good oh, it means that the battery is fully charged once more, and all will be well until the vehicle is left standing again.....the car really needs to be used more than this!
Many items including simple things like interior lights are now controlled by 'body control modules' - but don't ask me why! Sometimes these things are found in the most obscure places, including the foot wells which can't be the most conducive to dampness! Although you wouldn't expect quality motors to leak, sadly they do.
These modules are critically voltage sensitive and occasionally need software upgrades - as I found recently, but no one could explain why!
John :)
