Hi all,

I have an empty house that I've extended. When I bought it, the phone line was switched off, so when we built the extension, we disconnected all of the telephone wiring.

Having finished the extension, all I'm left with is the cable that originally came in (has four wires, white, orange, black and green) and a BT socket box.

My question is, how do I connect the old cable into the BT box? There appear to be three connections, A, B and E.

It appears to me that only white and orange were used before I dismantled the various bits of wiring in the house.

Also, I'll have to use some new phone wire (the blue/orange with white type) to connect the old wires to the socket box. Which colours should I use to do this?

TIA

Brilliant, thanks.

By the way, will that be ok for internet router connections as well?

Yes, just wire your colours as above, to a modern master socket with a built in filter - that has two sockets, one for your router one for the usual phone.

If you have Any extensions you will need the third wire in 3 normally Orange for the Ringing

Not needed these days, maybe if you have a really old fax machine for example, then yes.

Yep, these ones...

You'd be surprised how many old 746's there are still around and connected to the network.
