Hello,
I'm renovating a house and need to replace some of the floorboards.
The existing ones are not original or anything fancy, just pine boards.
My problem: They're a size that I can't find anywhere.
The boards are 18mm thick and 119mm wide, square edge, and what is worse, they are very long -- I need to find replacements that are at least 3.6m long.
Where can I look for this?
Online timber merchants usually cap the length at 3.4m... Wickes, Jewson and the usual suspects don't seem to sell this exact width/thickness.
Help!

Stop searching the net and forget the warehouses - try to locate a proper timber merchant who has a machining service. They do still exist.

Thanks everyone!
Followed JobAndKnock's advice and talked to some local merchants. Actually harder than you'd think, a lot of them don't plane anything to size anymore.
Now I've got a quote from Alsford timber who can do it (in case anyone in the South East of England looks at this).

Does anyone have a view on Redwood vs whitewood? Small price difference. In the shop they said fewer knots in redwood, and I don't really care about that. I want to have the floorboards showing with an oil + lacquer finish. Do I gain anything by going red?

Redwood is generally clearer of knots and defects, depending on the grade. Whitewood is not really for show with the main uses being for floorboards which will be carpeted-over, studwork, etc

I accept that finding the right timber merchant can be difficult, but really if anyone insists on buying "banana pine" from the big warehouses which everyone and his dog has picked through, then the get what they deserve. All things being equal merchants should be cheaper, better quality and have a wider range of stock available

Not overly impressed by the quality of timber at either of the two Selco branches in Greater Manchester. Good for other stuff, though, and definitely a step up from B&Q
