Hi everyone I’m not painting expert, as you can probably tell, I had a new window fitted replastered and new window board, I did the painting first I did the walls and then painted window board with primer and gloss when I removed the masking tape the gloss started to tear and leave a poor finish, what is the best way to improve this, I was thinking builders caulking, and zissner bin primer? Then repainting the walls and leaving the gloss? I do t know any advice would be great thank you I’ve added pics

I would have mist coat the plaster (90%emulsion, 10% water) onto the plaster and primed the wood. then caulk between the wood and the window and walls. I would have then emulsion the walls, 2 coats, bringing the first coat over the caulk onto the wood. Then undercoat and gloss off by simply cutting in with the brush.

Frog tape is the best. Different colours for tackiness i think. I dont use it anymore. I bought a couple of cheap steel plasters float and cut handle off the large one so easier to get angle against wall. Also use a brickies trowel for corners. Wipe down with baby wipes as you go so no build up of paint. Or if you got the time a cutting in brush works a treat. I watched a few clips from painters on YouTube. Talking about the way you load the brush with paint. Was like yeah yeah but it true. Get the right amount of paint on the right place on the brush and it works

Did you wait for the gloss paint to dry before you took the tape off? That’s usually why the paint peels leaving a rough edge. Best to take the tape off while paint is still wet in my experience
