Hi all,

Im in the market for a new tray for my new en suite.
Originally I was looking at a wetroom former but started leaning towards a tray.

Ive seen the mira flight level which is only 25mm deep. Im presuming that with a 15mm tile board and tile it would look flush with the floor.

Im struggling to find any reviews on it as Im guessing because its pretty new so i was wondering if anyone had any experience with it?

Thanks

Mira trays are usually good quality, the flight range has been out for quite a while but the 'level' range is a new release. I'm sure it will be the same good quality items they usually supply.

They are designed to sit flush with the final floor level. Just remember if the floor is wood to support it adequately.

Thanks for the reply madrab. I think this one will be ideal although its expensive. The other issue I have it that the waste falls exactly in the middle so the side waste is perfect.

Ive never fit a shower tray. However the subfloor is a 25mm wbp plywood floor on massive joists supported with loads of noggins. Because im doing the inside myself I always go overboard with things like that. Ive seen some people bedding on silicone but my plan was to lay it on thinset adhesive or sand and cement bed. is this the right method?

Floor sounds fine, always better to over engineer. If it is being edged against the wall and the floor/tray is nice and flat then silicone will be fine to lock it down and seal to the wall. Cement/thinset/tile adhesive etc isn't needed. You'll actually get better grab from a silicone than the others.

im happy to go with the best method. time/money are not an issue as im doing it myself. ive seen a mixture of people bedding on mortar but then having problems with cracking or rocking. ive also seen people use something like ct1. so im undecided which way to go

CT1 is a silicone sealant adhesive, rather than just a sealant but they all do a similar job. CT1 has a higher gripping force but normal silicone (I use dow corning) is good enough in my experience.

Couple things to note...

Follow the MI's of the tray manufacturer, some say thinset or tile adhesive other say silicone.

Make sure the tray is properly supported under weak points... A weak area can crack if something tensile is dropped on it... shower head (which shouldn't be able to reach but always do), posh cosmetic bottles etc.

Also, with a low level tray, make sure the waste can cope with l/pm out to meet l/pm in from a drencher with high rate flow. 50mm pipe with a shower drain that can cope, else it'll be leaving the tray at the perimeter.

Brilliant advice about the waste thanks. my plumber is coming soon for the 1st fix so ill make sure i talk to him about that. ive got it in my head that this tray drains 30l p/m but ill double check.

Thanks all

Hi, how did you get on with the flight Level, I’m looking to install one in a few weeks?

I'm wondering the same, especially about the drain flow, how's the drain compares the traditional vortex one? I'm bit concern that the drain is super slow if there's form when showering then water will build up and overflow.
