I still drop in there from time to time mainly to catch up wth old friends but Dan the dictator has sanitised it effectively banning the banter between members which made it so good (I think some of the unfair slagging you mention was down to that banter between us). He has introduced a "Badge" system ranging from Disliked to Esteemed, yep you read that right, a member offering help can receive a "Dislike" badge, can you imagine that here and the fall out it would create! :ROFLMAO:

You`ve been banned and my posts are moderated before being seen as I keep rubbing him up the wrong way. He stopped what he calls waffle yet waffles on himself. IMHO it is dying as a forum and a lot of the guys don`t post anymore.

He even had a pop at this forum and others claiming "Poor advice" being given and then his forum putting things right :ROFLMAO: Go see for yourself if you doubt me, you don`t have to register just open the start page and click on Plumbing news at the top of the page. It`s the 3rd item down.

A mate of mine was on it, was having a tough time mentally as still is. Tried to post explaining why he left only to get a reply stating they don’t do goodbyes so post was deleted by admin - really pi55ed him off.

That happens, admin say something along the lines of "If you`re gonna go then just delete your account, no need for reasons or goodbyes just feck off".

Have to agree with you guys about that forum
Take a look in everybody and enjoy it but you don’t need to log in to see it all :p
The Dan guy running the UKplumbing forum seems to have no clue
Embarrassing for their members
Very few members there now I think
It is a real laugh out loud on some threads where he replies himself to threads
He is asking his members to post long threads and he will give them extra Likes :p
That forum seems to be full of fake posts
Strange fellow tells everyone to go and Do One!!! o_O:p:p

He does seem to be a megalomaniac. He says he wants everyone to be "nice",, and yet he sends foul mouthed PM's. I mentioned that there is a LOT of incorrect info posted, and that CentralHeatingKing in particular writes some moronic stuff. I corrected CHK (can't recall the subject, but it was basic). That post generated some nonsense from Dan, saying I was rude, and he deleted my post, leaving CHKs incorrect statement. It quickly went down hill from there. The final straw, I think, for Dan was when I said I could not give a toss about achieving his new "well liked" tag, or similar.

It is impossible to write anything negative about UKPF. You will get deleted and moderated. TBH, I played along and wondered if there is something negative for him if he actually bans you. He kept on inviting me to delete my account.

Does anyone know him? He wrote, privately, that once folk met him (he is going to the Birmingham plumbing exhibition, I think) they stop complaining. I took this as either a threat (is he a big guy?) or that he is "nice" in real life.

What a joke:

We have 3 threads active now across the forums, where DIYnot, Ultimate Handyman, and DIYDoctor has given them advice, and it’s not to specifications of current building regs. And it wasn’t like the job needed to change much at all. The DIY products used, cost more to them as a DIYer than the correct products would have cost them as a member of our forums, because we get discounts from suppliers and manufacturers.

Please please dig around more! These DIY websites are good for painting advice. Anything more than that and you risk being the 1 in 10 that get the wrong advice. Nobody on the DIY websites are correcting the advice. Because they get shot down for trying to get people use actual products for the building trade rather than crappy JML-style 2am Advert-style products and tools that are good for nobody!

As I said, you cannot criticise - it is not being "nice". The guy is nuts.,frankly. I am allowed back in June, I think. But, if I bothered, i would not be there by July :sneaky:

You too eh? I`ve have four PM`s with a link to delete my account because I`ve pulled him on errors in his own posts :ROFLMAO:
Without going into details he has been in court for amongst other things, Road rage, stealing an item from a drinker in a pub and fighting with the landlord. He is 37 and runs around 5-6 forums on different subjects. Don`t have the links anymore and wouldn`t post them here if I did but have seen the local newspaper reports.
Is he nuts? Oh yes ;) and don`t get me started on CHK!

FWIW... Colleague and I recently had issues with tiling on a bathroom refurb. Client not happy. Us in the middle with Tiler and tile supplier pointing fingers at each other.

Went to UKTF (tiling Forum) to seek input and advice. Got some good help, advice and support from various members, apart from... A certain Dan (admin) who just wanted to dig at the tiling layout and question what prep had been done before tiling.
The issues I needed advice for had nothing to do with this and were related to after polish finish only... Turned out to be $hit tiles as confirmed by a 3rd party Tiler, sent in by the supplier after much complaining.

I chose to ignore his comments. You can follow the discourse if you like. My username in there is the same as on here :sneaky:

Dan is a Tiler, by trade, according to himself during one of his tirades. He is listed as "Admin" and is the site owner, along with "Lou", who I assume is his (personal) partner. He thinks the Tiler forum is the best thing since the proverbial bread - and is trying to remodel the PF to follow the same lines

I think that is "was" a tiler. Read somewhere that he fu¢ked his back up, which is truly terrible to hear for a tradesman and may explain the bitterness? I know it'd change me for the worse :(
Hope the guy with the injury gets sufficient medical assistance to return to work asap, seen so many colleague's suffer physical injury whilst involved in work. No work = little money.

There are some very helpfull tradespeople here that are willing to get involved with diy advice after their own often long & tedious days work,at the end of the day the diy fiddler will purchase the lowest price material/service company or use diy forums to state "3 heating engineers said" this and that and when questioned it was all all virtual at arms length advice.

some information offered on forums is harvested by others & translated into other languages, maybe usefull for some but seeing Agile (Tony) offer advice in russian still does not make any sense. maybe ask him about london bus routes, pensioner travel cards and curry houses .
This guy Mark (y) who looks like a young bernardgreen  has mentioned his material has been used by others, see his vid at 1m32s

Mark,many thanks forthe info,great stuff (y)
maybe today's diy assistance is tomorrows chip paper,a caveat to diy fiddlers.

Banter is acceptable but often started by moderators and posts deleted by same when they dont have an answer,or cant be bothered.

H&C
