I went into a department Smyths Toys yesterday, the shop was heavily covered with Axis cameras, 2 on each isle. Must've cost a fortune. Question for any installers, why would a store use Axis as apposed to something like Hikvision. They seem to cost up 4 - 10X the price of Hikvision depending on the model.

Why drive a Fiat 500 if you can afford a Roller? I'm not knocking Hikvision (we use it for 99% of our CCTV installations) but we have a couple of sites where Axis is specified by the client for various reasons. Don't forget that Hikvision kit hasn't always been as well spec'd up or even as reliable as it is now, not to mention their association with the Chinese government. Axis had the first network camera on the market years before Hikvision even existed.

An installer should go on a customer brief, plan or specification.

I have had customers state they want a particular product or brand there reasons are often many fold.

certainly less of an issue going with AXIS than say some other brands that are aimed at a different end.

HIK isn't the best out there, but I would say it certainly represents good value

depends on how you want to rate the systems.

value for money is different to the best and camera technology is changing all the time.
