my neighbours decking overlaps into my garden. I wouldn't mind but it is extremely damp and mossy especially when it rains. It was only power washed 5 weeks ago. Any ideas of how to stop/hide would be appreciated. Thanks.

joec1985, good evening.

Where EXACTLY do you understand the boundary line to be???

Does your neighbour know of the issue of the protruding decking??

Ken
And is that fence actually yours or his (i.e. within his side of the boundary)?

They have laid it the wrong way.

They should go parallel with the fence so water runs off onto their garden.

The problem can sometimes be that (if like our house), the back door is on the rear of the house, having the decking running perpendicular to the house can lead to some very easy slips when the decking is wet, so this could well be a reason for laying this way.

That being said, the picture in the OPs post does look awful. As has been alluded to, I would be inclined to first understand where the boundary truly lies, and then can go from there.

Ignoring all the whys and what ifs...

Id cover that with some cladding, like the roof line type, easy clean and neat.
Or a nice little stub wall, planter ect

Tap some broad wedges under the edges of the decking so any rainwater/cleaning water runs back onto his side.
Build another 'proper' fence on your side to hide that cowboy effort and live happily ever after. A new fence may chop 4" off your side of the garden but it's a small price to pay for not having hassle with a neighbour over something like this.

You need some 'Wet and Forget'. Brilliant stuff.
