Suspected pump failed in combi boiler.

Thanks guys, I understand what you mean now. Thanks for clarifying. So the 15-60 pump that worked only when I spun the impeller was a duff then eh.

Ill get it all back together tonight.

@Gasguru. Reading the manual it does indeed say the higher speed is used when the water is called. I will get the screw off the pump and see when it spins.

What 15-60 pump? I thought you originally bought a new 3 speed UPSO 15-60 from the merchants...do you mean that pump didn't work?

I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be a stuck diverter or some other fault....

Yeh that one didnt have any terminals in other than the NLE so I thought id just hook it up to the mains to see if it ran. It did but I had to 'start' it myself by rotating the impeller.

First job when I get home is to put pump back and check rotation as you suggest. Ill update this around 7 ish.

Sounds like the spindle was seized from sitting on the shelf for so long.

Quick update. Stuck the pump back in. It span for hot water and when heating was called. symptoms were the same so concluded its not the pump. Removed the plastic valve motor on the diverter valve to take a look. Seemed to move ok on its own. Ordered a new motor and valve. Put it all back together so I could get a shower. Turned on and got an E3 message on the LCD.

Manual said mains feed earth fault or control board fault. Checked continuity on my earth. Checked I had 240v on my multimeter between live and earth and live and neutral. all ok. So think boards now bust.
