Who connects new gas pipes to meter?

GAS METER ALTERATION

I am installing a new kitchen and decided to move my gas meter from an awkward internal position to outside in a cavity mater box in the wall.

The external alteration work was done by Cadent/Trio who have moved the external pipe to connect with the gas meter in the box. Can anyone explain to me what needs to happen internally? I thought my builders knew but seems they don’t. I thought they understood that they need to connect the boiler to the gas meter internally but they have just prepared the pipes to a certain extent but don’t seem to know how or where to connect it and I’m struggling to find the answers.

GSR engineer would run gas pipework to gas appliances and meter. Not a builder.

Well, if they don't know, they shouldn't be preparing "any" kind of gas pipe, to "any" extent!
Get an RGI.

Let builders do building and plumbers do pipework. You wouldn't ask a plumber to build a wall for you...

Ahem! There's plenty plumbers I know who are good at building walls! Just a "different" sort of wall!

When you filled forms in it would have asked do you want cadent to reconnect internals at a price or will you arrange for a gas registered guy so as you never took first option it's down to you to arrange.

Thanks all. My mistake, I should have said that my building contractors are engaging all the various trades people on the job, including plumber. My instructions to then were that their plumber (who has removed my boiler while plasteringcetc has been going on) prepare all the pipe work internally including reconnecting it. So the question is really To where exactly does the PLUMBER need to connect the pipes. The PLUMBER on this job clearly doesn’t know and Cadent are not very helpful with any detail.

And Gas112 yes I chose not to have Cadent do the work because my building contractors said they had the Plumber to do it.

As others have said, get a GasSafe registered gas installer / plumber to carry out ( re-do if necessary ) all the gas pipe work in the house.

Defective gas pipe work can give rise to incidents that kill people and/or destroy a building.

Where does the plumber need to connect pipes to !!!!!!! Eh the meter outlet unless you think gas is WiFi

If your plumber doesn't know the answer to this, you need a new plumber.

Clearly the builders are subbing the pipework to a plumber and the plumber is not qualified to do gas work/move the boiler.
I suggest you find someone Gas-Safe registered to assess and if necessary re-do the work that's been done, then connect to the meter.
Builders are notorious for using illegal non qualified labour or doing the gas work themselves.

as per Guru. I would bet your gas work is illegal. Ask to see his Gas Safe ID. You can also use the Check An Engineer section on the Gas Safe website. You must be qualified and registered to do the work mentioned. You are not allowed to do it and get another to “sign it off “
