Hi

I need to replace our UPVC door handle because one of the plastic washers has exploded and its generally looking worn. However I am really struggling with the sizing. The screws in the existing handle are 80mm but all the new handle sets seem to have at least 122mm screws. I cannot find any with 80mm screws, does anybody know why this is?

Thanks

What you need is a junior hacksaw. Thread a nut on the fitting first, cut the fitting, bring the nut back to the cut to peel back the swarf, then file the swarf away.

80mm screw centers? Thats a very odd size
Or are you saying 80mm long screws?
A photo of the internal handle may help

Its 8cm long screws between the two sides of the hadle. Is 8cm really an unusual length? No door handles I have found online seem to use this size of screw.

Its also rather annoying that its either 92mm or 95mm between handle and keyhole and hard to tell which. Why oh why was there a need to offer both sizes. From one photo it looks like its a 95mm, but looking at the ruler next to the door it seems closer to 92mm.

Firstly I dont own a hacksaw so would need to buy that too, and secondly it looks like the end tapers in slightly. So would just be much easier to buy the same size to begin with so I am trying to work out of anywhere sells them in 8cm.

I suggest seeing as you've told us you can't find ANY 80mm screws ANYWHERE is to buy some 122mm screws and a junior hacksaw

Crank, I think you are misunderstanding what I am asking. So just for clarity this situation is this.

I cannot find any new UPVC handle sets that come with 8cm screws that go through the door and attach the two sides. By way of example I can only find things like the attached.

My questions are.

1) Is 80cm now a defunct size for the screws these sets come with?
2) If they still sell UPVC handles with 8cm screws, does anybody know where?

Edit, I have just thought. Do they mean the 122mm is the gap between the screws? Just thought that might be what they mean. If so that doesnt come over very clearly. In which case how long are the actual screws?

Sorry if this is obvious to some of you. See my name in that regard.

As Crank says that is screw centre to screw centre of 122mm. Normally you get two sets of screws in the box as well , not sure what size they are though as never measured them , just fitted the size that fits
