Vertical radiator loosing heat

Hi Again. Didalio makes a good point. Having to bled some water to create flow everytime it goes cold is no fun. I'd rather a rad keep me warm than look nice. If it always works after a bleed i would pipe it up in the diagram i posted. That should hopefully create a flow thru the rad.

Yes good suggestion, in fact it's actually slightly more efficient to pipe at opposite top and bottom because then the hot water enters at the top, falls gradually as it cools and then leaves at the coolest temperature when it hits the bottom. Just make sure not to have the return at the top as then the hot water would enter at the bottom (if it's working) then rise straight to the top and leave without warming the rest of the panel
 
Would the last panel still get hot?. Was just wondering whether the water would shoot up and then head towards the return rather than making it way down into the other panels?

Correct that's why you have to do it the right way, the idea that the entry is at the top and exit at the bottom. Then the density of the cooler water will cause it to fall to the bottom.

Oh yes I misread the labels, in that case probably better to do the other way round from the diagram, although Martin might have an even more reasonable justification

In my small mind it would make sense to have the flow at the top so the hot water doesn’t have to try working it’s way UP the panels. But that’s just me and welcome thoughts from the more knowledgable.

also, lost as to why I can hear water in the radiator every time someone turns on the hot water tap. Never had this before the boiler was swapped a few weeks back.

I just realised my post was a bit ambiguous, but i thought given I'd explained why it should be clear, flow at the top, return at the bottom.
But i am not sure it will help your bizarre situation except by coincidence
 
Not had a chance to swap and flow to the top.

Why I can hear water gushing in the radiator every time someone turns on the hot water tap. It’s not a trickling sounds and goes on for a min. The rad also then looses its heat and takes forever to heat up again. Never had this before the boiler was swapped a few weeks back.

No idea. Get the installers back and ask them... It might just be sound transfer where pipes are touching or the installers might have done something bizzare!
Only being there would lead to some possible answers.
 
Turn the cold feed off to the boiler and try bleeding or draining the rad.

If nothing comes out someone’s got egg on their face lol!

Has the rad been cold since the preheat on the boiler was switched off?

Is there any difference now the pump is set a little higher? Don’t forget there is still another 50% or so power left in the pump you could turn it up all the way on max and min to see what effect that has. I wouldn’t leave it like it because you’re likely to have noise issues with the flow through the rest of the system.

And finally get the damn gas pipe sorted!!!
