I like my Makita tools, well made, value for money, I stopped buying Bosch quite a few years ago, overpriced and certainly no better quality or lifespan. In any case, both off those manufacturers (and most other manufacturers) have for a long time had their tools made in China. No complaints about that.
The last Makita combi drill I bought wasn't really up to scratch, lack of torque etc and mainly my fault for not reading the spec in detail. Anyway, bit the bullet and bought a new one but went for a bare drill, didn't need a case, didn't need batteries. Nice bit of kit, metal chuck, more than double the torque, and of course nearly double the price of the previous drill which came with a case, 2 batteries and a charger. Examining the drill, I noticed it was made in Romania. No complaints, nice to see manufacturing coming back to this part of the world.
