Vertical radiator loosing heat

Turn the cold feed off to the boiler and try bleeding or draining the rad.

If nothing comes out someone’s got egg on their face lol!

Has the rad been cold since the preheat on the boiler was switched off?

Is there any difference now the pump is set a little higher? Don’t forget there is still another 50% or so power left in the pump you could turn it up all the way on max and min to see what effect that has. I wouldn’t leave it like it because you’re likely to have noise issues with the flow through the rest of the system.

Sorry, but what will this prove?
Since the pump settings were saved, the rads been stone cold. Doesn’t even get warm anymore.

Because from your description it sounds like it’s been piped into the water system not the heating.

I turned the pump up not down but at the same time I turned the preheat off for the water and the rads been cold since.....

.

but the rad was turning on with the chw. If the rad was piped with the dhw, then the rad would start to get warm when someone would turn on the hot water?

Or the rad is gravity circulating when the preheat or the ch is on...

If you’ve eliminated the possible it’s time to consider the impossible!

I can’t believe the plumber that put it in can’t sort it out

That’s the problem. The original installer has no idea. And it’s been over 3 years.

I’ve read the thread and would like to make an unqualified (clueless) guess. Is the TRV on the wrong way but bleeding the water somehow allows water to get through it until it closes again?

It is a big puzzler. I'd disconnect the rad. You can just turn the TRV off and you should have a turn off on the other tail. Drain the rad and remove it. With flexi hoses from screwfix connect a cheap rad and see if the still got the issue. Will cost about 30 quid to do.
